Is Scouting Safe?

  • Our leaders all undergo formal “Youth Protection Training” every 2 years.  We are trained to spot issues and are considered mandatory reporters.
  • We require more than one adult be with Scout(s) at any time, both in person and any virtual interactions (“two-deep leadership” principle).
  • We are required to have a first aid kit and current medical forms for each Scout in a safety binder present at all activities.
  • Scouts must be the same gender and age to share sleeping quarters.
  • We each assume responsibility for our own safety and exercise our own judgement.  We typically let Scouts engage in free play before and after meetings and during portions of our camp outs.
