Pack 972 Finance Policy

Last updated:  August 2025

Cub Scouting requires money to work.  Because most of our dues go straight to Scouting America, as opposed to our Pack, we require additional funds to do fun things like campouts, Pinewood Derby, Raingutter Regatta, purchase awards, Den meetings, etc. We charge a modest annual Pack membership fee and we sometimes charge for events that involve expenses for the Pack, such as overnight campouts, special district events, model rocket building, etc.

We do our best to minimize this burden on our families by being thrifty and fair.  When everybody pitches in their fair share, it is not only the right thing to do, but it helps keep everybody’s costs down.

At the same time we want Scouting to be accessible to everybody regardless of their financial means. If you need help with yearly dues, please reach out to our Cubmaster or the Council.

If you are having an issue paying for a specific Den or Pack event and you’d like to attend, please discuss with your Den leader or our Cubmaster.

There is help available, our discussions are confidential and we are not here to judge!

For the payment of fees due for annual membership and events, the following policies are enforced:

  1. RSVP and payment is a requirement before attending specific Scouting events where these are required.
  2. If a family falls behind on a payment without making arrangements with the Pack leadership team they will be unable to attend future paid functions until the balance is paid.
  3. The leadership team will make every effort to provide early notice of events requiring RSVP and payment to participate, and send out notices well in advance.

It is important that we as parents lead by example.

A Scout is respectful, courteous, kind and thrifty after all 😊

If you have a fundraising idea for the Pack, please share with the Cubmaster or leadership team. We very much welcome all ideas for raising pack funds! If we raise enough money we can lower fees and make more events free! It also enables the Pack to acquire gear and supplies.
