Pack Campouts
Campouts: Adventure, Community, and Skills That Last a Lifetime
Some of the best moments in Cub Scouting happen far from a classroom or a meeting room. They happen around a campfire, under a sky full of stars, with a group of kids who just discovered they can do more than they ever thought possible.
Twice a year, once in the Fall and then in the Spring, Pack 972 packs up and heads to a BSA campground for two nights of adventure, friendship, and memories that last well beyond the campfire.
Pure, Unscripted Fun
There's something about the outdoors that unlocks a different kind of joy in kids. Trails to explore, creeks to investigate, s'mores to burn (and eat anyway), and the simple thrill of sleeping somewhere that isn't home. Campouts give Scouts the freedom to roam, play, and be kids in the fullest sense of the word.
From Friday evening setup to Sunday morning pancakes, every hour of a Pack 972 campout is packed with activities, laughter, and the kind of stories that get retold at every family dinner for months.
Skills That Build Confidence
Every campout is a chance for Scouts to learn something genuinely useful. Over the course of their Cub Scout years, Pack 972 campers pick up skills like:
- Setting up and taking down a tent
- Building and safely managing a campfire
- Leave No Trace principles and environmental stewardship
- Cooking simple meals outdoors
- Reading a trail map and navigating a hike
- First aid basics and staying safe in nature
- Teamwork, problem-solving, and helping others
These aren't just badge requirements — they're building blocks of confidence. A Scout who knows how to set up their own shelter or start a fire safely carries that self-reliance into every other part of their life.
Every Scout. Every Family. Welcome.
Pack 972 campouts are designed to be accessible and enjoyable for everyone — from seasoned outdoor families to those who have never slept outdoors before. Experienced Scouts and parent volunteers are always on hand to help first-timers find their footing, and every campout is a judgment-free zone for trying new things.
Gear questions? We've got answers. Nervous about your first trip? You won't be by Sunday morning.
Come for the campfire. Stay for the community.
