How much does Scouting cost?
Annual Scout membership is $145 per year, which covers your national membership ($85), council membership ($20), and pack membership ($40). When you register or renew online through BeAScout.org, you'll be billed $105 — our Treasurer will collect the remaining $40 pack fee separately by check, cash, or Square.
Adult leader membership is $85/year, but Pack 972 covers that cost for all our volunteer leaders — our way of saying thank you for giving your time!
Some special events like campouts or winter lodge days require a small per-participant fee to offset costs, which we'll always announce in advance. All together, most families spend around $150–250 in a typical year. We work hard to keep as many events free as possible, because we don't believe cost should ever be a barrier to Scouting. The pack covers the cost of Scout awards, leader dues, and most supplies for regular pack meetings.
If you need financial assistance with dues or event fees, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Cubmaster or Treasurer — we're here to help.
All scouts and families are asked to review our Pack Finance Policy for full details.
